help improve skele mage build (or switch)

Hi guys, So I have this skele mage build on the _Rob_Zombie_ character.

It is pretty ok, I still die a lot cause no player skill I guess but none the less I tried all other summoner builds and unfortunately this still feels the better of them.

I managed via lots of luck to get my hand on around 15 exalts ... what should I invest in?

what I think I could do is:
1. get a good helmet for the skele mages and put in the body some auras with enlighten?
2. go CI ... but that I think would mean to get very different items which have es instead of life (I don't think this would fit in 15 ex)
3. buy an awakened spell echo when I find one for 15 ex
4. what adjustments should I do or aim for?
5. is there another build that for 15 ex could get me where this build is?

tried carrion golem summoner but felt squishier
tried baron zombie but felt like lacked dmg,
tried the Hyrri's watch specters felt like lacked dmg,
I tried spider templar felt like lacked dmg,
have an elementalist for golems but low level and gave up (I read that it is not better then summoner version of golmes)
have a toxic rain build but stopped around 50 (dont think it would be safer then the skele mage summoner)
I also liked playing RF but same as toxic rain I don't think it would be better then skele mage on 15 ex


What I dream of about poe:
1. finish the atlas stuff (have all 4 voidstones, 2 so far)
2. have all favorite maps unlocked
3. beat each boss once without juiced maps or anything
4. play blighted maps at the end cause that is my favorite mechanic

P.S. it took me a long time to get this far since I play casually so the next 15 ex will probably take another month or so :)

You character looks okish on first glance. Switching is generally more expensive and takes time to show results. I would personally stick to Skellies.
Next step is to get Path of Building + Fork and post the pastebin of your build next time. Most people wont bother otherwise importing your character. Anyway...


It seems your build is somewhat based on Kay's, maybe not? There are a few mistakes and loose ends.

For starters:

Get Quality up on all your damage supports. Your Wand is ok. Everything else can be upgraded. Your Unset Ring for example is terribly low on stats. Ashes of the Star Amulet is very good and cheap. Get attributes on your gear so you don't have to waste skill points on the tree.

Rightous Decree is very questionable. Do you have mana problems? Looks like you can unspecc those 2 points.

I don't see your Endurance Charge generator? You have 2 points wasted on an extra Endurance Charge with no way to generate them.

Your Medium Cluster can be upgraded. Feasting Fiends is terrible value. 1 Medium with Blessed Rebirth + Renewal should do.

Pick up the shield block nodes next to Tireless, this will help with Resists aswell.


Next and the most important part - improve your Flask setup.

You want some form on instant Recovery on your life flask. Either Careful or Bubbling. I like the latter better. Bleed removal belongs on your life flask.

Remove the current enchants on your flasks.

Sulphur Flask is very questionable. Get a Jade Flask. Personally I am also not a fan of Rumis since the nerf and would advice to cap block without Rumi and get a proper Granite Flask with increased Armour mod.

stuff is very hight, but it's your goal :)

you can afk blight MOST blight encounter at lvl 70 with 0 dps with some ring enchant. If blight is your goal the builds have nothing to do with that. i would suggest to get meteor tower drops burn (enchant on rings) x1 and then like increase empower tower . id suggest to google/youtube . just saying since these are runnable on naked character and white ring basically.
