Yep, that would be the option for getting the highest top-end potential with T0 Zeal attack speed and second T1-2 flat, but can take quite a few attempts. Especially if you get an unlucky string of annul fails.

For the more consistent but lower output option you would spam Wrath or Hatred essences on your fractured base until hitting T1-2 attack speed suffix. Effectively settling for 2-3 T2 mods going that route but it's much cheaper and less stressful this early into league imo.

Is a 500+ phys DPS anarchic spiritblade with equal stats + DPS better than a foil with the same elemental DPS? If so, why?

I've been recommending a cold + lightning Elegant Foil this league, it's objectively better than Anarchic now. Last league they were within ~5% DPS of each other while getting some QoL.

Previously we were using a physical Anarchic to benefit more from HoP's more phys (and minion count padding), Ele Relic Hatred scaling, and to get physical reflect immunity while getting ele reflect immunity from Awakened EDWA to run basically all map mods with Risk scarab.

However, this league with the loss of Awakened EDWA and the introduction of reflect-immune Foulborn Aegis Aurora later into Keepers there's no reason not to go for an elemental Thrusting sword base. (ideally <110 dex req)

Why cold over fire?

Just marginally better than fire ailment-wise, the damage output is the same. Getting better chills and freezes feels better imo. (not to mention the sound of shatters are too satisfying)

Mana has been hard to solve, and I wanted to avoid mana flask, so far I've tried
- spirit void anoint on belt (ran this the whole first week)
- runegraft of treachery (giving determination to enemies won't impact our ele damage) to run clarity... can't keep up with our high APS mana cost
- recrafting my weapon with a leech suffix

I eventually got a Fuel the Fight megalo but even more recently tried adding an impossible escape->vaal pact for mana leech, onslaught on kill, 8% block+endurance charge on block

Agreed, mana leech is the trickiest part of the build. Lots of ways to go about it and fine-tune your costs/leech rate, but does feel like Fuel the Fight is still our best option even though I was hoping the Foil base w/ phys leech on jewel would be enough it's just not quite sufficient.

I'm barely sustaining well enough at the moment with 24% reduced cost helm, -7 cost ring, and Inspiration, but after upgrading to an 80% attack speed cluster (Fog'd double aps suffix minion base) will probably need to upgrade to a Misted Bone Ring for costs to optimally fix mana costs.

Edit: jewel acquired, these are very powerful at our top-end but can be a huge pain to craft. (Took me 25-30 Fogs, can cost 30-40d just to prep the base before rolling)

40-50 str on one piece of gear would still let you use block tattoos, and you could easily just put one point into minion mastery in either of the two wheels and replace that.

I don't see anyone doing it, so am I missing something here?

We are taking Runegraft of the Fortress, it just doesn't show up on poeninja. You have to check the linked pathofexile website tree to see our tattoos and grafts.
