Maybe that monster just had 75% lightning resistance (and maybe high cold/fire resists too), and you cant shock him due to your relative low dmg to his HP pool?
When running elemental setup, shit like that happens from time to time.

You should target TS right behind an enemy for maximum damage.

Thank you. That monster really had elemental resisits and the most part of my dmg is elemental due to PTL, HoA and Hatred. However, Neversink says this attack (TS+GMP+FA+PPAD+PTL+wed) is the best one for Atziri. I wonder why, since Atziri has high elemental resists and shock immunity, and we have no elemental penetration. If i have a problem killing a rare monster because of his elemental resistance, then killing Atziri is absolutly impossible, even if i manage to double my dps somehow.
So i wonder why Neversink says this attack is the best one for Atziri.

I'm pretty short on fusings atm, so i'm unable to make a second 5L to make a test.
So i'm going to try this setup:
1) 5L Frenzy - Frenzy+FA+PPAD+SlowProj+IncCritChance - hard physical single target facepunch;
2) virtual 5L IceShot - IS+GMP+FA+WED+Built-in pierce from Infractem.
IceShot because it seems to me, that it has the best synergy with 100% pierce chance from Infractem for pack clearing.

Yep. That's why i'm curious, why Neversink tells that TS+GMP+FA+PPAD+PTL is best for Atziri. Just can't get his idea.
It really looks like giving her a 50% buffed Lightning Coil.
Not even Atziri, but even a high hp and elem res rare monsters are a real PAIN.
I think it would be better to replace PTL with Slower proj or Increased crit chance.

there was time at beginning of 2.0. when many ppl claimed PtL+WED bis combination. Because it rises toolpit's number the most and (my guess) people thought that it applies shock every 8 out 10 shoots. So not only biggest toolpit but actually biggest toolipit times one and half.

(yup I have my small satisfacion now, mister "there's everything wrong with your setup" ;p)

What would you replace WED-PtL with?

Go dmg dammit, you're ranger not m1 abrams, you're supposed to be squsihy. Take all these beautyfull damage nodes that are around you, and sockets too and put there even more damage, seriously.

Yes, skill tree remains the same.
Take "Spirit void" passive and you will have enough mana sustain.
Gem setup with LA may be different from TS. LA benefits a lot from weapon elemental damage, while TS is better done pure physical imo (read the above discussion).

This could just be some left over text from the pre-2.0 version of the build guide. PTL was not suggested before 2.0. Instead the suggested best setup for Atziri was TS (which was focused on physical with heralds and auras for some elemental damage) for crowd control and Puncture for single monster and the Atziri final battle (to avoid the reflect Atziri).

Tree is the same. But if you plan to use LA intensively, you may want to overlook Voltaxis Rift bow and go elemental archer. Tree remains the same for it, you just dont learn physical damage nodes.

LA has higher manacost than TS, while dealing less physical damage. You will need higher leech values to sustain it and/or mana gain on hit. Spirit Void cluster is great there.


Personally, i use LA gem (with PtL for 100% convert) for physical reflect maps. It has far from optimal setup, but still oneshot packs and allows me to run maps i would skip otherwise.
