I've only ever played hardcore and never felt the need to test anything, so I always just delete my character and keep the same name for all of them haha.

And the skin is from the Fire and Ice mystery box. I finally bought a supporter pack this league, and used the points to open a couple and got lucky.

Cool! Nice work. This does seem to suggest that at medium levels of cooldown reduction things are working somewhat as I would expect them to with the charge system in terms of being restricted by cooldown, even with higher cast rate.

However, you're getting way more Magma Balls than your cooldown should allow if we are assuming PoB's cooldown calculation to be accurate.

You're using spell echo, so you're getting twice as many magma balls (164/2 = 82 "echoed casts")

This would mean your cooldown is closer to 1.46 seconds per magma ball charge (120 seconds / 82 magma balls) rather than the PoB calculated 2.73 seconds per magma ball charge.

I'm beginning to expect more and more that we are getting much more cooldown out of the harmonies than we originally thought.

It doesn't appear to be multiplicative cooldown per harmony though, because that would mean your cooldown would be 1.96 seconds per magma ball, not 1.5

I'm at a bit of a loss to explain it.

Edit: Took a look at your character, and the total of all your harmonies "Golem Skills have (20-30)% increased Cooldown Recovery Speed" PLUS the "Golems have (10-15)% increased Cooldown Recovery Speed" is 312%, which would result in a cooldown of 1.46 seconds.

6 seconds x .2427
=1.456 seconds


Which fits exactly to my previous estimation based off of the amount of Magma Balls you got in 2 minutes...

This doesn't mean it is necessarily the case that it is benefiting from both stats, but from this test alone, I'd very much say it warrants further testing.

Test 1: Golem linked to faster casting + minion speed, Harmonies with exactly 100% total "Golem Skills have (20-30)% increased Cooldown Recovery Speed" , No eminence, No auras

Here try to use only 4 Harmonies, so that we have the least amount of the other stat. We use faster cast rate so that we can be sure we're hitting the cooldown cap.

Count the Magma balls they cast in a period of 120s, (or 60s is probably fine) starting the timer on the cast of a Magma Ball after they have cast at least 6 times.

Test 2: Golem linked to faster casting + minion speed, Harmonies with exactly 100% total "Golems have (10-15)% increased Cooldown Recovery Speed" , No eminence, No auras

Here try to use the most amount of Harmonies, so that we have the highest amount of the other stat. We use faster cast rate so that we can be sure we're hitting the cooldown cap.

Count the Magma balls they cast in a period of 120s,(or 60s is probably fine) starting the timer on the cast of a Magma Ball after they have cast at least 6 times.

If the other stat is having an effect, we will see more total casts than expected.

My question is: looking at your current build and tree I don't see how you avoid getting stunned every 2 seconds. Is it you just don't care if you get stunned as it doesn't really matter as spectres and golems kill everything and your energy shield is high enough to absorb any damage you take while stunned or does your block chance keep you from getting stunned very often?

As an aside, I tried slower projectiles in place of GMP and hated it but using both... that might be something I try.

I'm using "Soul of the Brine King" pantheon to avoid double stuns before I get my Presence of Chayula. I have not noticed many stuns recently, so maybe I have high enough ES to not get stunned from medium hits.

One of best ways to avoid getting stunned is to boost Temporal Chains to max level as soon as possible. With maximum effectiveness trash mobs are barely moving, so they cant hit you very often. Getting stunned at that point will be pretty hard.

Slower Projectiles is only for the 2r2g2b budget Skin of the Loyal. Better colors should always run Fire Penetration or Cont Dest instead.

How's mapping with the build and if u go the elementalist path, Liege of the Primordial, Paragon of Calamity, and what for the last 2 ascendancies O.O

With Elementalist rest of the Ascendancy nodes dont really do anything.

"Tomatopotato" is most likely best person to answer Elementalist questions. Hes very actively promoting Elementalist and has very deep knowledge about the subject. I have tested Elementalist in several configs and did not find it equal to Necro. No saying that Elementalist cant be used if you know what you are doing, but I'm more focused on optimizing Necro based Golemancer.


Ill be traveling till weekend, so can't access Poe or PoB with my tablet. Ill join back to Golems cooldown testing later if the algorithm has not been figured out yet ^^

Quoting myself a bit from faq section :

Controlled Destruction

Adds more damage to attacks but wont lower enemy resistance at all. If enemy has 50% fire res, only 50% of damage would go through. However Elemental Equilibrium(EE) drops enemies fire res by 50%, so resistance would be 0% and full added damage goes through. However if EE is not up or enemy has 75% or more fire res, only partition of damage would go through.

90% of the mobs have below 50% fire res and EE can drop them to minus resistance, so Controlled Destruction usually gives more damage. If you like active play-style and keep casting totem often you end with much more damage than with Fire Penetration.

Fire Penetration

Doesn't add any more damage to spell, but will let more damage through the resistances. If enemy has 50% fire res and EE is not up, 90% of damage would still go through. If EE is up and fire resistance drops the resistances to 0%, Fire penetration will lower the resistances below 0% to -40% and starts to add damage so it wont go to waste in any case.

If you like passive play-style and don't like casting totem or focus only killing endgame bosses, Fire Penetration can work better than Controlled Destruction.


Basically Cont Dest gives best damage when Elemental Equilibrium is up, and with active players that happens most of the time. EE lets "more" damage from get get through to enemies and boosts Golems damage a lot.

Fire Pene is best against high res bosses where EE maybe can't be kept up all of the time. It also helps in high ele res maps and when playing lazily and not using totem on most of packs.

Both have very similar damage in the end, but for those wanting most DPS cont dest is best choice.

Can you show us a Shaper or Uber Atziri video when you're ready? Or of somebody else? TV specs can carry even without golems, but I haven't been able to find a 3.1 example yet (since the TV totem nerf) and I'm curious how big the gap really is.

Ill make videos as soon as I can get my hands on t16 maps. Map drops have been horrible for me in league. Might even have to buy elder helmet in standard and gear alt char for the video.

Hey guys, sorry if this has been answered a million times but do golems still kill things when you're dead
Hi, does "Socketed gems are supported by level # burning damage" on elder helm affect golems? Afaik and also after reading through the spectre's threads, plenty of people have confirmed that it doesn't affect spectres, but only the ones tagged as "Minion damage" and "Minion life" do. It's very confusing. Thanks in advance.

Have a couple of big questions. Never ran a summoner or golemancer build before. I got an incredible sweet helm, basically making a 7L easy.
. The flame golem buff seems op, as with the elementalist build, could do 250%+ I think. Not sure if a flame golem build or raging spirit would be best. Anyways need help with direction from anyone would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
