"Flame Golems
Thanks to Ezekiel5 and Purdurabo12 for this tip!
Several people report a hard-fix to any clear speed related issues you might run into with this build: Get an Elder helmet with +2 or +3 to minion skills and the Elder mod "Gems are supported by Minion Damage". Put the following gems in it: Flame Golem + GMP + Spell Echo + Controlled Destruction/Ele Focus. Then replace four of your jewels with: The Anima Stone, Primordial Might, and 2x Primordial Harmony. You might have to drop some other links somewhere in order to do this. "
Nowhere does it say if these golems are supposed to replace either solar guards or the TV's, which was my question
Your not using golems to replace your specs. Your adding them into the build. If your running a TV build its slow going. The golems increase your DPS and add some clear speed on trash mobs.
The elder items are quite expensive... You can do this ultra cheap now with a +2 fire gems staff with high minion damage. Welcome to +2 fire golems on an effective 8L stack. Don't forget the block nodes.

So, I just finally managed to kill Uber Elder with SGs with this build's usual tree as the basis - life/mom with max (or close to max) block. I see people talk about Necro's amazing survivability, the issue is, Necro has completely shit movement skill options; the only relatively good option is brightbeak SC, and this option is a suicide on Uber Elder, so we're stuck with either Scourge or Advancing fortress with Whirling Blades. Oh the great 1.5 APS whirling blades that even with a 20/23 Faster Attacks support and a lot of investment in the Duelist starting area make your WB recovery longer than the whole freaking 3-orb Shaper's sequence.
Or let's see just how much 'effective HP' do we have once something goes through our block. A whole whopping ~300-500 armour from shield, potentially something from gloves and belt and... oh right, we also get to multiply that insane amount with all those %armour nodes on the Marauder's tree side.
What does this give us? Oh that's right - 7500HP/2500Mana going from 100%/100% to 10%/0% after a single tentacle slam on Uber Elder.
Obviously, even with Dyadus nerfs, TVs would have a much easier time on Uber Elder than SGs, but the problems I've explained above (very poor physical mitigation and absurdly shitty movement skill options) don't go anywhere.
I don't think that it's a good idea to compare the survivability of different ascenadcies only by comparing their prowess in shaped sea chain-farming. This game is so much more than that. And it's absurd to say that Necros are in a good place when looking at Uber-Elder, who could and should rightfully be a very important indication of what the ascendancy can and can't do.

i dont understand what you're trying to say lol...are you implying that something other than necro is better, or that TV's are garbage?
Also have you tried what some other people posted above and tried putting flame golems in a 6l staff with +2 fire gems and empower?
What he is saying is UE is a bit over tuned. Necro movement skills suck. Necro physical mitigation is not that great. One tentacle bitch slap and its almost screen loading time. Dyadus nerfs effected his DPS output. TV's would have been a better choice. Etc.

Advancing Fortress + Whirling Blades + Faster Attacks + Haste is ok. Not great, but not shit, either.
As for armour, that's mostly flasks. I run:
That gives me 11.6k armour and just over 5k Evasion. And that's with a shit roll on my Jade flask.
Overcap on mana vs life. Few things suck as bad as going to near death and being completely out of mana to power your escape.
What gem setup were you running for your SGs for the fight?
Edit: Speed flasks? Are you using Shield Charge? WB doesn't care about base movement speed...
