[3.x - Discontinued for now] Burning Spectres - Torch the Atlas - HC Shaper, Elder, Uber Atziri

I am doing a spectre build for the 1st time and following your guide; what skill tree should i follow, your POB one or the one linked from the forum? They both are slightly different and your gear is different as well so what set of gear do i go for the POB gear or forum gear and thank you.

Why does the build pick up so many +armour nodes, but wears mainly ES gear?

The build is very flexible around gear. The core items are the Vis Mortis chest and Bones of Ullr boots, and I've even seen folks swapping one of those out for Kaom's gear for hard bosses. Same with the tree - as long as you've picked up the extra spectre keystone and the spectre damage nodes, everything else can be allocated as you wish.

Bottom line - you can use either tree, or a hybrid, and it'll still work. Check out my current tree if you like, it's similar, but modified for my preferences.

Is this a good build for SSF? I was thinking of running this for the SSF HC race. I've run all kinds of summoners before but never tried SSF. Some pretty specific uniques listed so I'm just wondering how hard it is to gear in SSF.

Depend on whether you are grinding enough or not. Theuberelite a prominent summoner streamer often goes ssf without problem though vis mortis maybe difficult to get so you should expect 3 spectres only

I'll probably play this same similar variation build again like I did in Bestiary League for Delve. It did Elder pretty well but I probably won't know till the patch notes comes out

That new curse ring looks good also. It would free some gem slots for a arc/ball lightning curse setup, whereby you use desecrate to curse instead.

My feeling is that the ring is just a leveling item. At end game, ring slot is too valuable to lose. You got nothing much from curse anyway.

It is true about this build requiring you to optimize gem slots, but like I said before, it would open up a 3-4 gem slots for cursing using this ring. You could use desecrate/Unearth and have lighting/cold damage on jewels or armour to proc EE and curse. Even though you also lose a ring slot, resistance/life were never a problem with this build. The only issue I had playing Burning Spectres/Golem variation was beating Uber Elder in Beastiary League and with this ring it will allow you to use Kaom's Roots quite easily with little to no alterations.
