[3.21] 🌿Ultimate Claw Poison Pathfinder - Untouchable Viper - Molten Strike update by FEL

Hey guys, I started with something like this and found that although mapping was a breeze and damage output felt great, it was a little squishy for my taste. I bit the bullet and modified my build to be something like I saw ONE GUY (InsaneIns) on POE Ninja using -- ditch the HoAg and instead abuse 3x Purity of Ice/Fire/Lightning, and grab a free Malevolence w/Aul's amulet. Not having to worry about resistance makes gearing easier. Since we can do the bottom right corner and catch two cluster nodes, we can get 4 medium CJs, one for Low Tolerance +, and the other 3 for Pure Commander + another aura scaling notable to get max res up close to 90%, plus regular res up a lot and stronger malevolence.

I got my max res for elements up to 88% each, armor around 50k with flasks, and I use a Watcher's Eye that does malev-mult + sends phys damage to Fire (artic armor for 12% reduce, then layer on the 88% resist). Tack on some block chance for dual-wield, endurance charge on kill boots, and I feel very tanky even if I'm careless.

Check my profile (ScrotieMcBoogerBabe character) for my most current build. I highly recommend it if you have some currency -- Watcher's eye, corrupted perfect form, decent claws, my boots. It's not perfect and I'm sure I could refine it, but it feels like a nice blend of poison damage (more than enough for everything so far - easy Sirus A8 kill), tank, and super fast movement/mapping. My favorite build ever and it dies rarely enough that I'm still surprised at the clear/damage.

Curious if anyone has feedback. And sorry if this is seen as a critique of the base build - a really nice one that I just had trouble staying alive with in this league (3.10). :)

That sounds very promising, friend. Right now I'm more glass cannon feeling. I wanted to push for 100 but I do hard maps and hard things, and occasionally I flop over, or poof(when I die its 100-0); 88 resist all would be pretty nice to maybe combat that.

And just about everyone posting in this thread has tweaked the original build in some way; I had to drop all the block nodes to fit 19 points of Cluster Jewels in; its a cluster jewel league so I figured needed to at least try them out.

I have a damage set up using Cluster Jewels, but damage is already really high; I might try the 88 resist all and see what thats like. At this point in the league, its build more characters or tweak.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm gonna try it.
Very cool. I think you'll like it. I forgot to add, you can focus on Chaos res, too -- I think mine's only at 72, but was at 75 before I shuffled gear around. Feel free to ask me questions. I took mine to 95, fiddled with another build, but am coming back to this to finish out the season and maybe get close to 100... so I'm in optimization mode. Just ditched Tribal Fury on ammy for Dirty Techniques (I think it does more dmg. than Corruption once you have a lot of dmg scaling already, but could be wrong), but have yet to test it.
Another idea for the gem setups here: What about Rage support for Whirling Blades?
I mean, having Rage is definitely a nice thing. Stacking it up does take a while of course, but in Simulacrums or longer maps it should actually reach max. And even if it doesn't, some rage is better than nothing.
As we established: Faster Attacks is pretty much useless, so is Blood Magic (in my opinion).

I will try Rage out and maybe update about the success of it.

Edit: This is actually amazing!

Granted: for normal maps it doesn't do much for me, because I just one tap everything anyway, so I juiced a Maze of the Minotaur with 5 Delirium Orbs to test it. Once with rage, once without it. The bosskill is actually considerably faster with Rage. Stacking it up to 50 is easily possible during the map, if you don't oneshot stuff (which I can't on 100% delirious maps), so it's literally 50% Attack Damage, 25% Attack Speed and 10% movement speed pretty much for free.

Of course it won't do anything to a boss like sirus with more immune than damage phases, but I think on uber elder it should actually be possible to stack it up quite a bit.

I will definitely keep Rage in for a while now to test it further. 10/10 so far, can absolutely recommend.

Edit #2: Does PoB not support rage calculation? My DPS stays the same at 50 rage, as it is at 0.

Just catching up on this thread. I whirl faaast... maybe too fast, now that I think about it. If I take out faster attx, I don't think I'd do rage. I feel like I'd lose the rage too fast unless I really committed to zooming over clawing and picking stuff up (rarer now). I might instead put in Life Gain on Hit... not sure if it would be noticeable, but that feels like it might bump up the recover when I'm zooming out of an ugly swarm that isn't dying (like those where you need to kill a totem or something).

I dash too fast. It even gets me killed sometimes. And I dont even use faster attacks, and have Fiber and 20 ping. Its honestly incredibly annoying. I will dash, and it will dash a 2nd time; sometimes right back to the same exact area, and I'll get hit by something I was trying to dodge.

^^
This happens. I had a lot of trouble with that when i fought Aul until i figured wtf is it.
Thing is it remained in the gem setup because I have to adapt the build to everyone. Not everybody has 2.0 aps claws... If you have fast claws, take out Faster Attacks support, it's definitely making problems with Whirling.

Honestly, for those who feel like a glass cannon you are forgetting how's it's like to actually play this league with one.
This one isn't squishy unless you make it so, by playing without paying attention, which i stated. It's not mindless build like a Cyclone (played by half of the league) where you hold your gas pedal and steer the wheel. It's not Herald stacker either.

I haven't played the build since Blight but I got my hands on one Simulacrum in standard. Doing it deathless on the first try is something.

If you feel like you need to go triple Purity to play it, i suggest some new build, a proper tank. Not something that is not here or there.

@Corioliss
That's a bad idea, won't work well. You are either going to get distracted by getting that Rage or you ain't going to get it.
There is a cluster node that gives Rage on hit once a second.

ding ding ding! My point exactly. And ya..I'm aware of Craft of Exile.

It took me 15 tries to get

My point is RNG is RNG and it is NOT as easy as was described pages back. It was implied even with RNG it's like zomg insanely off the wall easy to get a amazeballs claw. It's just not.

Then there's going splat in a t6 Delerium. Not too crazy about the currency I've dumped into this build.

For me, the triple purity makes it playable. I started with seeing the Mathil build and didn't see this guide until I was already playing it. Then got frustrated with dying - maybe gear at the time, maybe me just not being good. :) But switching to a 3xPurity build made it really click for me. Feels good, feels like it's got the spirit of poison proliferation, and feels almost as tanky as my gladiator and way faster... I'm not sure what beats it. So I'm happy and looking to this thread for inspiration on fine-tuning, like the possible Rage substitute for faster attacks. It's all good stuff. Everyone has their own play-style. Mine may just be too face-tanky for most builds as shown.

You do know you just crafted like a 6-7+ exalt claw for like 2.5-3ex? I mean you hit worst case scenario, 15 rolls, and made a claw worth 4-5 ex more than cost.

So yes, it was easy, lol. You just saved 4-5 exalt. You theoretically just made 4-5ex. And thats at a bad streak of 15 rolls.

Imagine the rolls where you hit that in 2-5. Or hit sellable ones in 2-5. Not every one of them is gonna take 15 rolls.

I crafted like 9 or 10 claws; that claw was like 11ex when I was crafting them. So, at the time I made that post, you just spent 2.5-3ex to craft a 10+ exalt claw. That was easy money at that time in the league, lol.

I think you are just too caught up on the process of rolling fossils. In the end, you still saved like 5+ exalt over purchasing that exact claw. You are too caught up on the fact you rolled 15 times; forgetting thats literally like 3 exalt worth of mats total, worst case.

Your next one could happen even sooner. Hell it could happen at 30 tries, and you still broke even.

So yes, its much easier to craft the claw, and until those things are like 3ex, Id still argue to roll for them before purchasing.

When I made that post, it was insanely easy money. And you still got a GG claw for half price now.

The easiest money in this game to be made, is crafting. Right now you can go spam Serrated fossils on warcry clusters with 10x for mob mentality, and sell them for 1ex+. Crafting is the money maker. You just cannot get hung up on individual crafts taking longer than expected. Its a numbers game. Thats just one instance right now that is extremely profitable. Use Serrated on warcry medium cluster, get Mob mentality + X, sells for 90-1.5ex+. Takes hardly no tries at all. Maybe one will burn you for 10-15.

For me, its not squishy persay, just prone to 1-shots. And, in the high 90s, its really 1 or 2 deaths in a see of 100+ maps that keeps you from ever leveling again. Also, I pretty much leveled all the way to 96 with Viper Strike. I play Pestilent now, because it maps better, but I think Pestilent is less safe than Viper Strike by far. Because I used Melee Splash with Viper, and it attacks with both hands, the life on hit gain was vastly superior to a handful of mobs getting hit by Pestilent.

But Pestilent is really the way to go for 5 orb maps, Simulacrum, etc. At this point random deaths I dont care about. I'll take 1 death in a 5 orb Delirium map or a Simulacrum map. Id have to clean up some things, like you said, if I wanted to level any farther.

Rerolling maps is probably the best option to level. Poison and Chaos builds really suck you in to alch/vaal/super mapping because they can do any mod; so you almost never roll off the dangerous ones.
