When you don't have inspiration and -mana ring, Barrage skill gem costs less mana and you can slot in stuffs like culling strike or whatever with it.
Frenzy with Barrage Support gem does the same thing, but frenzy gives frenzy charge on hit so you get more damage and attack faster. It's recommended to use frenzy instead of Barrage after you get respectable mana regen or -mana ring/amulet

I've unlocked the craft Trigger a socketed spell when you use a skill. If you need it, I can craft it for free when I'm online. Craft cost is 3c

Should consider running a Xoph's Blood or Fire Impresence. both options will improve DPS, especially Covered in Ash

Might be some other strong uniques to improve DPS, this build doesn't need that many rares and it's easy to cap all resists (including Chaos) with some investment.

Hey could you use greater volley with frenzy instead of barrage support or is that a bad idea?

I see people are doing Sirus quite easily. I couldn't do it. Never done it before so I don't know the fight and what to dodge and so on. Plus those beams bloody hurt.

Is it viable to not use shield charge and use DD+Spellslinger on the sockets that would use Shield Charge? I don't like using the skill so i'd rather have the sockets on something else.

I decided for an CWDT+IC Setup and a portal gem, immo what feels best for me, is to run DD in your VD setup so that would be your 6th link in your setup. I felt the same way like you do with Shield charge...didnt like it, didn't see the point of Fortify that much tbh when I dont charge into packs and stuff dies one shot anyway ;)
