Honestly, the only Minion I loose regularily is the Carnage Chieftain Spectre, just using a 3rd Harpy now.
In all cases since long time only I die, not the minions.

Well, I'm not dying or losing minions regularly too, but yesterday I just got deleted by wave 28 Simu. Multiple times. While the other day I can go for a walk while it's going. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Link the 50% Auras to Enlighten
(Discipline-Determination-Purity of Elements-Enlighten).

You should still be able to activate Purity of Ice, Dread Banner and Tempest Shield and have 35 Mana left to cast Shield Charge. If you need more Mana you could use Tattoo of the Hatungo.
