Elementalist HARDLY needs buffs, self casters HARDLY need buffs, cuz spell casters without archmage or arcane cloak currently suck hard. I have currently invested ~20ex in this build, and I have hard troubles with: Sirus, silmucrafts, higher lvl maps with high lvl of delusion, non-white shaper guardians are hard etc. I have not even tried (uber) elder/shaper, nevertheless I have 500+ kills on both during previous leagues.

The point is that if you play 15 heralds or some other stupid afk shit you are fine, but if you want to play some old-school self casting arc you are restricted from end-game content. Period. Or at least you are before spending 50+ex on a single build, so that you can do fine-ish.

That's why i'm asking what else can i change in my current setup (exept for absurd stuff like staff in earlier post with +3 skill gems)
Right now im trying to get watchers eye with + lightning damage on wrath.
I'm not disappointed, just want some advise coz i'm not a veteran player by any means

Hi, below is my Staff. Is there a way to safely remove Cold Res without focking up the other modifiers?

I want to add "can have up 3 crafted mods" + "trigger a socketed spell..." + keep the increased lighning dmg (i guess I have to remove it before adding "can have up 3 crafted mods" and put it back afterwards)

It's just that I am not sure there will be space for all of the above mods if ColdRes is there. And since the "+3 mods.." recipie is still quite expencive (for me) I don't want to do noob..ish experiments :D as I probably won't get any better staff soon :)




PS. If the staff's not worth the investment just skip the question and say it :)

Seems like some people have massive issues in higher content with the current setup, while others have none at all, and at this point I see no other solution than completely reworking everything to an unoriginal copy paste of the current Archmage meta. Not really feeling to do that so I don't know, set your expectations around this piece of information.

Youre absolutely right. I dont want play afk builds and i think the game should reward players who make efforts.

Well, I'd typically never post an alternative build here, but people are asking for a more meta version of this and I found a YouTube vid that seems to fit the bill: https://youtu.be/dg5TEn0DMT8

I have not yet tried it out personally, but it is my next project. It uses the trickster ascendancy for great fundamental defense and some decent offense, too. The main mechanic is Arc + Archmage + Unleash, which lets you invest of TON of mana into boosting the lightning damage of a single cast, but then spam that cast 3-5 times. I tried to get it to work with elementalist, but I just can't get my mana pool where it needs to be (and defensively it just can't cut it anymore D:).

It's a big change from this build. Full mana means no Eldritch Battery. It also uses Elemental Overload instead of crit, which I'm not sure now I feel about. Just putting it up there as an example of more current meta builds; NOT endorsing it specifically.

I'm currently using Enlighten Support in my helm in order to get the 4 auras active at once discussed in the build. Without this support gem, I'm just a little bit shy of activating all of them. However, I don't see any mention of Enlighten Support in the guide, and I believe I've allocated all of the correct Passives and otherwise got the right mods covered by my equipment.

My question is this: what am I missing? How do I get all four of Wrath, Flesh & Stone, Zealotry, and Aspect of the Spider without Enlighten Support?

Should we use Timeless Jewel (Doryani) for energy shield so we can use Aspect of the Spider instead of Discipline?

Probably you didn't unlock 4% reduced mana reservation on the spell tree. It is below Chaos Inoculation.
