[outdated] Caustic Arrow Solo Map MFer (20/300+)
" I don't know what you mean by the first line, but re: MF being dead and GG unique drops: a) MF hasn't been about GG unique drops for a very long time. It's been about consistent, reliable currency generation, which the build still does. b) MF isn't dead, but it's definitely more niche. If you're constantly pushing T13+ maps (I'd personally say T14+), and thus are able to sell your T16s and T15s if you want, in conjunction with having reasonable clear speed, there's definitely an argument to be made about MF being less worthwhile. But you will also need to be doing gated content in order to keep pace. This is my first league since Ambush (three years) not MFing at the start. I typically make anywhere between 75-100ex in the first four weeks. We're five days out from the end of the first four weeks now. I have spent about 20ex on two builds, and have spent easily an additional 10ex rolling maps or other misc expenses, and have approximately 30-ish exalt in the bank if I convert jewelers, fuses and chaos over. Putting me at 60ex or so made in 3.5 weeks. But I've also been pushing T15 maps. I haven't done much in the way of gated content other than normal Atziri, but 5ex or so of that bank has come strictly from selling T16 maps, and 1.5ex was from selling a Catalyst. I also was incredibly lucky, dropping a 4ex Thicket bow and 1ex Two-Stone Ring. Without those, I'm closer to 48ex, which is 20ex (or more) behind my normal MFing pace. In short, the lesson here is that MF still beats regular playing UNLESS you're doing gated content and/or constantly in high red-tier maps (13-15). Jul 27, 2011 - Sept 30, 2018. I'm going to agree with Serleth here as well. This is my first league in quite a while not pushing MF out of the gate, and 4 weeks in I'm clearly lagging behind what I would be making normally. OTOH, I find a pure DPS build does have a lot less trouble clearing higher end content! Tough bosses in small arenas were always a challenge for me running caustic arrow.

I guess.
Been doing up to like t4 maps. Tried a bunch of t12 maps but got my ass handed to me coz jumping goats = 1shot. I'm at 3.9k HP and lvl84, only got a few jewel sockets left to pick up. Lake and low level maps have been getting me absolutely nothing, chaos recipe aside. I think the loot that actually makes you good currency drops way more often in t13 maps, which I cannot do because im poor af. Stuck in this vicious cycle again where the stuff i need is gated behind shit I cannot run =/ |

" That's the whole point. Read the guide carefully. Even with a ton of rarity gear Serl had barely 10% of his total earnings coming from GG uniques. It's all about chroms, jews, alcs, alts and chaos recipes, the stuff t1 maps are good enough for. Getting to MF higher tiers is just an exp bonus you get as your gear and skill improve. Problem is you have to treat it like a job; be fast and agressive, and with some practice you'll become more efficient. If you can find entertainment in focusing on speed and efficiency, the fact you're doing something repetitive won't bother you. All endgame here is repetitive anyway, but maybe MF isn't for everyone. I actually hated it at first, then the money made me love it as I got better. Unrelated, I didn't actually MF this league and went straight into a sellout bandwagon meta build so I've been wondering: any of you did Uul-Netol or Chayula yet as a Caustic? I actually failed my first Uul-Netol's DPS check and timed out, then still had some close calls after updating my gear, and I'd say this EA is now probably a better killer than my Caustic in Standard, which has ~perfect gear. |

" 3.9k is your issue. At level 84 you should be closer to 4.5-4.7k. EDIT: Took a look at your character. Carcass is nice QoL but not necessary. It's the last piece of gear that you get. You have a 20% gem so your AoE coverage should be fine. Feel free to swap to a rare chestpiece with higher life values and a bit of resistance to get more survivable. This will make it easier to upgrade your amulet with higher life than 18, as well. Carcass is fairly hard to equip with it's low res-all rolls, hence it's the last thing we look for once we have all our other gear / survivability / jewels sorted. Also, Frenzy charges are the last thing the build gets. I would personally spec out of at least two of them to invest more in the Scion life branch. Those two combined alterations (rare chest piece, amulet swap for more life + four more life nodes off the tree) should push you to 4.5k or so and allow you to press in higher tier maps more comfortably. Also, push your clarity level higher. You should have the int to do so comfortably. If you feel the need to as well, drop the third charge for Soul Siphon. This will allow you to drop the mana flask for another Seething flask, which is far more important than having the mana flask around. You'll notice your survivability go through the roof being able to panic out with double Seethings. This will allow you to push to 90 much more comfortably, and you will be able to recover the frenzy charges at that point. Also, if you want to push levels, don't be afraid to swap out of MF temporarily to make your life easier to gain that xp. What I typically do is MF my face off until I get about 30% on the bar, then I swap out the Andvarius rings for life rings, allowing me to level much more comfortably but still have some MF around. " I tried all of this and ended up with 4.4k HP and gained a bunch of lightning resistance. I was at 14% before and it was incredibly difficult to stack more lightning res as I already had cold res on most of my jewels and my gear didn't leave me any room. While it's certainly still very rippy, it did boost my survivability quite a bit. I got this gear: at about 18 chaos. Ain't too bad :) Decided to do two T13 maps to try it out. Loot explosion #1: 12,5% closer to the dream with over 3000 hours played on this game. Loot explosion #2: Sadly vaults was just wisdom scroll land this time :p About the mana nodes, I didn't know it was mandatory to get them. I just assumed Enlighten would take care of it later on. As mana is not really an issue for me right now I will start picking them up when I get my free skill points from Uber lab. Just looking for this one pesky trial that just doesn't want to spawn. I sacrificed 2 frenzy charges for HP and it seems with 5 Frenzy charges as opposed to 7 the damage dip isn't all that significant. Actually makes me want to grab more life nodes instead to make the leveling a bit easier. The next goal is to get a 6-link bow with a better DoT roll so I can socket my item rarity gem. They seem to go for about ~5ex, and I have about 4ex in currency right now. Time to grind more maps. Anyways, thanks for the tips man :) |

Throwing my 2c in again... back in Perandus, when I last played PoE and this build, I had similar stats (3.9k HP, 15k DPS, 50% Dodge, Phase Acro) and felt comfortable in T1-T5 maps grinding recipes and eventually turning them in unID'd for double returns...
Later on when I had 25k DPS and 4.75k HP after I completed most of my upgrades including Belly of the Beast and Double-Ventors I felt comfortable up to t10+ (never did much past t10 tho) Coming back and exploring the atlas (Slowly, been sick a lot this month)... I liked the change to arenas at first until I realized you get locked into arenas while the boss is active... didn't even realize that until I found the new map with the old Phantasmagoria boss... the chaos spider... was a bit hairy for a second when I tried to leave and couldn't, but I just started sprinting laps around it and managed... not fun :D Even I learn something new sometimes... I picked up the frenzy charges before the jewel charges as well... and tend to leave survivability hp nodes for the end... to my detriment sometimes... the other day I kept losing all my progress to a trial trap and a breachlord in regular breach... I think I will pick up them leveling rings |

If you're going for 40/40
Do not try to buy sextants otw to your challenge completion for the "Nemesis monsters drop currency" mod, or however it's phrased. Park in Trade /820 and buy it for 15-20c. Hell, even 1ex if you have to. I spent nearly 7ex on sextants (if you include the 40-50 of my own as lost currency) and still didn't get it. Eventually got one out of trade.
